Darren joins as our overseas for 2024!

Darren lands in sunny Manchester this week and will be joining our 1st XI who open the season at Barton. Darren is a top order batsman who also bowls spin.

Our 1st XI captain, Andy Whittaker, said "Darren is an accomplished overseas player having been over in England for the past two seasons. Scoring lots of runs and taking lots of wickets! We are really looking forward to having him here as part of the team!"

We've asked Darren some questions to help us get to know him...

Tell us about yourself...
I’m from Cape Town in South Africa, fun fact about myself is that if I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life it would have to be steak!

Favourite cricketer?
Jacques Kallis - the GOAT - scoring over 13k test runs, taking over 290 test wickets and completing 200 catches - his numbers speak for themselves, growing up watching him in Sooth Africa kids generally always interpreted him and looked up to him.

Favourite team?
Hmmm tough one… maybe a combination of…. Talent - India / Sportsmanship - New Zealand / Fire - Australia

Favourite cricketing moment?
Back in Cape Town I attended a Milnerton High (which isn’t a big school)beating Paarl Gym in a D/N and being ranked 19th in the country at the time was pretty special as it was against all odds and the schools highest ranking.

How do you feel about joining BSMCC?
I look forward to being part of a great club. I’ve seen all the hard work that has gone in over the past few years .Off the field I’ve only heard good stories about everyone and I can’t wait to have a refreshment with everyone. Im looking forward to getting onto the field and do my best for BSMCC!

All of us at BSMCC wish Darren the best of luck this season and cant wait for him to be part of the club! Go well!
